About our speaker:
Sherlyn “Char” Selassie is the founder and managing attorney of Law for Love Family Law & Mediation, an Atlanta-based law firm serving Georgia and Florida families. Law for Love supports hurting families through education, mediation, and advocacy designed to avoid the anxiety, frustration and expense of going to court.
Char’s legal journey began with her own challenges through teen pregnancy, bouts of depression, homelessness and surviving domestic violence. Char began to influence healing in others when she got serious about her own healing. That healing journey has become the “secret sauce” of her legal counsel and approach to family law.
In 2020, Char resigned from her full-time job to launch her own law practice and homeschool program for her youngest son. Her days working next to her son at “Selassie Academy” are full of challenges and adventures where she juggles her child’s academic needs, cafeteria duties, and the daily demands of her own law practice.
Char is a teacher and mentor and lives her life as an open book. She considers herself a lifetime learner– both professionally and personally. She has ridden the struggle bus of marriage and remains faithful to her husband of 13 years. Marriage is the hardest thing she’s ever encountered in life. For this reason, she provides compassionate legal counsel to individuals and families who choose divorce.
