Deep Exodus (feature length screenplay)
Fifty years after the discoveries in "Deep Fate," humanity faces extinction from an impending asteroid and environmental collapse caused by the discovery of a new mineral. This mineral, once a beacon of technological progress, now drives Earth towards being uninhabitable due to toxic emissions from its extraction. With the planet's doom imminent humans have to exodus planet Earth. "Deep Exodus" delves into themes of legacy and resilience as humanity seeks a new beginning among the stars.
"Deep Exodus is about grief, but it goes further into depression and sadness. It's told from the perspective of a body being cremated, no longer existing. It's not really about a body, though it's about the planet. I wanted to write about total loss. Something disappearing completely. A person's body felt too small for what I was trying to say, so I made it the planet instead. A direct environmental story turns into a lecture. Cremation gave me something final and personal instead; no coming back from it. The low ongoing weight of depression once the moment has passed."
