WHAT'S INSIDE

20 pencil-outline templates, soft grey lineart on white, A4 portrait:

→ Red fox · hedgehog · tawny owl · red squirrel · rabbit · roe deer fawn · badger · wood mouse on a toadstool · barn owl · brown hare · sleeping fox · dormouse · roe deer · otter · stoat · pine marten · wild boar piglet · beaver · fox cub · bat.

20 painted references: the same twenty compositions, painted loosely in natural colour.

20 Colour Inspiration Cards: five colours pulled from each painted reference, each with a plain colour name and hex code, plus boxes for your own dried test swatches. No colour rules: swatch your own paints and compare.

1 animal identifier index: all twenty at a glance with names.

A fox sat on a pile of oak leaves. A hedgehog shuffling through the leaf litter. An owl who has clearly just been woken up.

This set is twenty of the animals that live at the edge of the wood, each one drawn as a soft grey pencil outline with a little bit of its home around it: a mossy branch, a tree stump, a few ferns, a toadstool. Big simple shapes, plenty of open space, and nothing fiddly to fight with.

Every animal comes with a painted reference in its natural colours, so you can see where the fox-red goes and where to leave the paper white, plus a Colour Inspiration Card with five of its colours.

Colour Inspiration Cards: A5 card PDF (20 cards) plus a zip of 2-per-page A4 / US Letter print sheets and 300 dpi PNGs

Two PNG zips: every template and every painted reference as its own file

Paper tip: print the templates straight onto 300gsm watercolour paper; it holds a wet wash best. Lighter paper will ripple a little, which is fine.
