Snopko beanie is a sister design to my Snopko pullover

Both are grain-inspired patterns rooted in the visual language of harvest. Named after the Ukrainian word “snip” for “grain bundle” or “sheaf,” it captures the linear rhythm, density, and layered textures found in cereal plants and their bracts. Structured yet organic, Snopko reflects the quiet poetry of natural repetition, a design that feels both grounded and gently in motion.

The hat is knit bottom-up in the round and features three distinct sections: a textured fold that shows on the outside, a simple ribbing hidden on the inside, and the textured body and crown. The design alternates between sections worked on the right side and the wrong side, adding extra fun to the knitting process and echoing the way the pullover is knit.

You can take a closer look at my sample and discover the design process in episode 47 of my podcast on YouTube.
