Even pulling every Air Force string he knew to get transferred back to his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas. Unfortunately, his parents aren’t convinced he’s ready to handle a full-time night shift and watch Jade during the day over her summer break, so, against his wishes, they’ve brought in her teacher to help.
And though Derrick is loathe to admit it, Jessie Nickleby proves to be quite capable. She’s also intelligent, snarky, and dangerously attractive (especially when she’s mad). Which means, of course, that tormenting her quickly becomes one of his favorite pastimes. Anything to prove to his mother that he can care for Jade better than anyone.
