Yarn

240-280 meters (260-300 yards) of Worsted weight (260 m (285 yds) yarn; 200 m / 100 g. 75% wool, 25% nylon.

Sample uses OnnenTähden Sukkalanka, in color marled gray. 1.3 skeins for size EU 39; foot length 21.5 cm (8.5 inches)

Needles

A set of 5 dpn's or at least 80 cm (32 inches) long circular needle for magic loop, size 5 mm (US 8) or

to obtain gauge 

Gauge

19 sts and 28 rows = 10 cm (4 inches) in stockinette sts in the round, after wet bocking.

Notes

  • If the desired foot length is obtained before the chart is completed, do the decreasing while knitting the chart. For every decrease rnd decrease the amount of k sts before and after markers.

  • The heel is worked flat as a short row heel. 
  • Row 12 of the heel is one whole round, instead of just back and forth. By knitting once in every w&t st the heel looks neater and prevent holes. 
  • Knitted cuff down, the cables on the leg form the head of a wolf. The sock also features a short row heel and a smaller wolf head on the foot.
  • This pattern is tested.
