Adaptability Skills
A change lands on you before you decide what it means. Seven decisions on reading it straight — what you can move, what you can't, and what the change quietly opened up.
The reflex when the plan changes is to defend the old one, or to treat the whole thing as a loss. Both skip the step where you find out what actually changed and what part of it is still yours to move.
You run a week where the ground keeps shifting — a schedule pulled, a spec changed, a call made above you. Seven times it stops and hands you the choice: brace, or look; carry what was never yours, or set it down. The consequence lands before anyone explains it.
You will practice:
- Noticing how a change is landing on you — what you feel, what you're braced against, what you expected — before you act on it
- Looking for what the change opened up, and whose view you're missing, before you call it only a loss
- Sorting what you can move from what you can't, and spending effort only on the part that's actually yours
- Bending the goal to what's real now — keeping what still stands, dropping what the change made moot — and lining up the support you'll need
