Ceramics Now Magazine - July 2025
Ceramics Now Magazine Issue 12 (July 2025) features the work of Kristy Moreno on the cover. Rooted in feminist iconography and personal lineage, her sculptural vessels depict powerful female figures joined in solidarity, resistance, and love. This issue brings together articles that reflect on representation, collective memory, diaspora, and expanded approaches to ceramic practice.
In Shaping Visibility, Monica Monaia reflects on representation in South African ceramics, examining the historical and contemporary contributions of Black and multiracial ceramicists. Cammi Climaco writes about Michelle Im's solo exhibition, "Hello, Goodbye" at DIMIN New York, addressing themes of diaspora, ritual, and the labor of care. Emma Park highlights key moments from London Craft Week and Ceramic Art London 2025, and Nigel Atkins examines Fragments of History, Pekka Paikkari's site-responsive installation at the Ensérune Oppidum and Archaeological Museum in Southern France. In Post-Discipline and Post-Ceramics, Graciela Olio raises urgent questions about identity, form, and pedagogy from a Latin American perspective.
This issue features artists Kristy Moreno, Jane Yang-D'Haene, and Mohamad Soudy, whose practices reflect a broad spectrum of conceptual and material exploration.
Featured exhibitions include Perrine Boudy at Sorry We're Closed, Brussels; Sasha Feldman at Ki Smith Gallery, New York; Kazuhito Kawai at KOTARO NUKAGA, Tokyo; Anne Wenzel at Suzanne Tarasieve, Paris; and the Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramics at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Ontario, alongside other shows.
