Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans is a joint-service hub carved into the marsh just south of downtown New Orleans, pairing front-line aviation missions with a tight reserve community vibe. From Alvin Callender Field’s twin runways, the base pushes out fighters, transports, and helicopters that cover everything from air sovereignty over the Gulf to maritime rescue in the bayous. Operationally, the base hosts a Navy Reserve aggressor/strike squadron flying F-5 Tiger II jets, the Louisiana Air National Guard’s 159th Fighter Wing with F-15C/D Eagles, a Navy C-130 logistics squadron, Marine light attack helicopters, and Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawks for search and rescue and maritime law enforcement.
