This is a reading companion guide to go along with the book "Tales of Sasha: Book 1 - The Big Secret" by Alexa Pearl.
Included in the guide:
Pre-reading activities - Answering questions and making predictions
Vocabulary preview - 10 words chosen by Lexile as being relevant to the level of the book (510L)
Creative corner - A drawing activity
My dictionary - A place to record words the reader would like to explore more
Word fun - An activity focused on special words or word usage in the text
Vocabulary review - A fill-in-the blank activity using the 10 words taught in the preview
Wrap-up - Discussion questions to review the story
Final project - A list of writing prompts that can be used for a creative writing project
This is a 10-page PDF file that includes a cover page and eight page of activities. Please note that the last page in the file is intentionally left blank. Some Macs seem to have issue printing odd numbered PDF files, so I've included this last page to ensure the file prints correctly.
I recommend printing the file double-sided, starting with the cover page. The layout looks best if the front of first page is the cover page (page 1 of the document), and the back of first page is page 2 of the document. If you are having difficulty with the printing, please check my stories on Instagram (@courtney.a.with2) for a flip-through. This file was created in A4 paper size, so if you are having printing issues, you may need to check that the paper size is set correctly for your region.
For the final project, you may just use a regular composition notebook and then add more stories to it throughout the year, or you could make your own story booklet using loose-leaf paper.
PLEASE NOTE: No book or story is included with this PDF. This is only a companion guide with activities that work along with the book. You will need to purchase the book "Tales of Sasha: Book 1 - The Big Secret" by Alexa Pearl on your own or borrow it from your library. If you cannot visit a library but have a library card, you could also try borrowing the book through your library's Overdrive selection if it's available, which is accessible through the Libby app.
Spoiler and possible sensitivity warning: The big secret in the book is that Sasha was found on a mountain and was taken in by the horses who she believes are her family. Please pre-read the story before presenting it to your child if this could be a problematic topic.
I hope you will find this useful. Thanks!
