But nothing can prepare them for what they encounter on Mars, nor what they bring back.

A READER'S REVIEW

‘The Awakening’ - a science fiction novel.

But it is just Sci-Fi?

No, it isn’t.

Although categorized as a Sci-Fi novel, ‘The Awakening’ might be something that you don’t expect.

As a reader, you might expect that after just a few pages the story will move into outer space, but it is more than that.

It is a book that focuses on personal relationships and the complexity of building a team that has to perform at the highest possible level; and it clearly isn’t that easy.

From the beginning the author portrays a group of diverse characters with different personalities, skills, ambitions and aspirations that must work together to become the team selected to accomplish the mission.

It is a journey, from competition and confrontation, to becoming family, where you the reader, are given the opportunity to witness how the pieces get to fit together at every step.

Special mention goes to main character, Janine Marshall. A woman haunted by her own demons, incapable of finding someone who really matters to her, (in the past she always kept her distance).

On this occasion, without expecting it, and with help, she finds that she cares enough about her crew to make personal changes, which enable her to step up and, along with the rest of the crew, overcome the different challenges they face until they reach their final goal.

A must-read if you enjoy sci-fi and a story with a thrilling rhythm of events that does not leave any room for boredom.
