This Scarecrow Art Project is a bright, playful fall art lesson for grades 2 to 5. Students use oil pastel and paint to create a cheerful, pop art inspired scarecrow with bold color, pattern and paint effects.

This is not a traditional scarecrow project, and that is part of the fun. Students build a whimsical scarecrow, add bright color blocking, create blown paint effects, and finish with repeating dot patterns and a soft painted background. The finished artwork is bold and eye-catching on a fall display.

WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING

★★★★ “Another great resource with step by step instructions, you couldn't go wrong if you tried! My students were recently introduced to water colors after their oil pastels so this was great to combine the two! I had several options available and they loved this. While I have 6-8 grades, it was something that was instantly successful so they built a lot of confidence right out of the gate!” Jessica N.

Use it as a fall art lesson, an autumn bulletin board project, a pop art activity, a homeschool art lesson or a sub plan. The step-by-step pages make it easy to guide students through each stage.
