Fuzzy Foot Socks by Cynthia Hyslop
Tried and true, Fuzzy Foot Socks are a comfy pair cherished by all. This great weekend project is the kind to make you or someone else feel all warm and fuzzy inside… and outside!
Sizes: This pattern is written in three sizes: small, medium and wide (foot circumference is approximately 7”, 9” and 11” after felting).
Yarn: 218 (300, 372) yds/200 (275, 340)m of a worsted weight yarn (held double). You will require half the amount above if using a chunky yarn, held single. Use 100% wool or a wool blend that will felt/shrink. Adding a strand of mohair to your base yarn will increase the fuzziness and durability of your slipper. A small amount of novelty yarn in the cuff can be a fun option.
To make our Canadiana/HBC-inspired slippers we used River City Yarns’ Epic (double-stranded) in MC: Ivory (100), heel: Navy (400), stripes: Harvest (700), Royal Red (500) and Forest (600). We needed only one ball of the MC, even for the largest size.
We also have addendums for this pattern to share our inspirations and encourage you to play with the design. These addendums are free: Bunny Slippers (kid's sizes), Epic Elf Edition (for festive slippers) and a Marls version (using 2 colours to create a third).
Note: River City Yarns Epic Yarn has been discontinued. For Epic substitutions, we recommend Cascade 220 which is also a 100% Peruvian wool, for the closest fibre match.
