Module 1 - Understanding Anxiety
In this module, we’ll explore some of the common roots of anxiety. These can include past negative experiences, moments of embarrassment, unhelpful teaching approaches, social pressures, and even the desire to be perfect. Each of these experiences can leave lasting imprints, shaping the way we think and feel.
We’ll look at how anxiety develops and why it sometimes persists. Often, it is fuelled by limiting beliefs, thoughts like, I’m not good enough or I can’t cope. Our inner dialogue, or self-talk, plays a powerful role in reinforcing these beliefs. When we constantly repeat negative messages to ourselves, anxiety becomes stronger.
By becoming more aware of these patterns, you’ll be better equipped to interrupt them and create healthier thought habits.
You’ll be encouraged to keep a journal, and, if you feel comfortable, share parts of it. Journaling will help you notice how your thoughts and feelings influence your daily experiences, and how they affect your overall wellbeing.
