Cio-Cio-San is the Japanese name of Madame Butterfly.

This shawl has a shape and decoration reminding me of a butterfly and the stitch pattern combines my filigree technique with japanese wrapped stitches.

The colors and the intricate stitch pattern remind me of the cherry blossoms used by Madame Butterfly to decorate her home when she learned of her beloved’s arrival.

This shawl is a symbol for delicacy, love, devotion and hope.

Construction

This shawl is a top-down triangle with a filigree pattern that mixes colorwork with Japanese wrapped stitches.

It is started with an i-cord tab, then continued as a normal triangular shawl, with i-cords on the sides that give a finished look with no effort.
