Help students explain how cities grow and how land-use decisions shape daily life. Ten printable activities bring together vocabulary, urban models, city design, research, surface-temperature observations, original FRQ practice, and video analysis. Teacher guides, answer keys, response guidance, and rubrics are included where appropriate.

Unit 6 asks students to do more than name an urban model. They need to use geographic ideas to explain patterns, weigh planning choices, and support a claim with evidence. This collection gives you several ways to practice that work alongside your instruction.

Use the vocabulary, crossword, and BINGO for review. Move into design with City Planning, compare cities through research, or use surface-temperature data to investigate differences between sites. The FRQs and video reflections give students structured practice explaining their reasoning.

DOWNLOAD AND PAGE COUNTS

One ZIP containing 11 PDFs, 148 pages total. The ten activity PDFs contain 145 pages; the start-here guide adds three. There are 96 student-facing pages and 52 teacher, key, reference, and start-here pages. The student count includes 30 BINGO cards, a project rubric, planners, and optional pages; it does not mean 96 separate assignments.

The PDFs are printable U.S. Letter files (8.5 x 11 inches), not editable or fillable forms. Student worksheets are grayscale. Use the printing guide to select student pages and keep keys separate.

PREPARATION AND ACCESS

- Teach the concepts and provide class notes or examples as needed. Urban Models needs instruction and case maps. It is selected model practice, not complete coverage of every Unit 6 concept or Topic 6.5.

- Primate City research and Megacity Showdown require suitable sources and comparable city boundaries, dates, and units. A current city database and full reading set are not included.

- City Planning uses poster paper or an optional digital canvas; paid software and color printing are not required.

- Heat-island field observations require an infrared surface thermometer, approved sites, and suitable conditions. Students compare surface temperatures; this is an observational activity, not a controlled test or a measurement of air temperature. The supplied fictional data can be used indoors.

- Urban Ideas requires at least three suitable videos selected and accessed separately by the teacher. Preview accuracy, content, captions, school access, and permitted use. Videos, transcripts, a fixed playlist, and media licenses are not included.
