The year my youngest was seven, she said that she wanted to go as a bat for Hallowe'en. What could be easier? Black pants, fake vampire teeth, cut a black shawl into the shape of bat wings and glue them to the underside of the sleeves of a black shirt! The crowning touch: a "pussy hat", but made with black yarn instead of pink. Accordingly, I whipped this pattern up to fit my kid, and - voilà - one candy-hungry bat!
