The two of them couldn’t be more different.

Having just turned eighteen, Joel has already seen too much of the world’s dark side. His goals now are simple; avoid ending up behind bars again, find a job, and get more tattoos. Nowhere in his plans is a girl who smiles at him and makes him want more than he knows he deserves.

Shay has been sheltered, kept within the bubble her mother’s created for her. But one look at a tattooed boy ignites her desire to break free. Despite warnings that he’s trouble and not at all the kind of boy she should ever get involved with, she decides to discover who Joel is for herself instead.

Determined to keep others from driving them apart, they never realized the battles that would rage within themselves to stay together. Joel’s fighting his own demons, while Shay’s still struggling to understand what in her life is truly worth fighting for.

They’re playing with fire, getting closer and closer to the flames. It’s only a matter of time before they both burn.
