This lovely shawl is named for Oliver Wendell Holmes' lovely poem "The Golden Flower"

When spring is but a spendthrift’s dream,
And summer’s wealth a wasted dower,
Nor dews nor sunshine may redeem,
Then autumn coins his Golden Flower.

This shawlette is worked top down and is offered with charted directions ONLY. A 2-row crochet bind-off edges the lovely petal lace at the bottom of the shawl.

YARN (Fingering): The Unique Sheep, Green Sheep Fingering, (100% organic superfine merino); 500 yds [457 m] to 3.5 oz [100 g]): Carta Dorata; 1 skein 

GAUGE: 20 sts and 34 rows = 4” [10 cm] in blocked lace stitch

NEEDLES & HOOKS: US #6 [4.0 mm] needles; adjust needle size to achieve gauge. US D hook [3.25 mm] for edging. 

SIZE: 54” [137 cm] wide by 18” [45.5 cm] deep
