Syllable Splitter

Phoneme splitters are a fantastic way to teach children how to hear and blend individual sounds. However, as children begin reading longer words, sounding out every phoneme can become overwhelming.

My Syllable Splitter helps children break longer words into manageable syllable chunks while still using their phonics knowledge. For example, the word uncommonly contains nine phonemes. By the time a child has sounded out the final phoneme, they have probably forgotten the first. Splitting the word into syllables makes it much easier to hear, blend and read successfully.

By teaching children to tackle longer words one syllable at a time, the Syllable Splitter builds confidence, improves fluency and makes reading more enjoyable.
