MH-53J Pavelow
The Pave Low's appearance and performance were both enhanced. The HH-53 was renamed the MH-53, or multi-mission helicopter, after the modifications. The engine and rotor architecture were changed after 1960 to give the MH-53 its current look. The implementation of the Pave Low program was the most advantageous of the major adjustments. The program included terrain-following radar (which includes terrain-avoidance radar), Doppler radar, GPS, and forward-looking infrared sensors (FLIR). The MH-53 could now fly with less emissions both at night and in inclement weather thanks to these upgrades. Therefore, the helicopter helped in the detection of enemy electronic signals by using real-time data from satellite links.
