What this course is about
The Potty Mastery course is a clear and reliable method to transition from nappies to the toilet. Learn about children’s development so you can trust them and yourself to use the toilet.
Avoid power struggles, bribes and sticker charts by following a method that taps into your child’s desire for autonomy and mastery and helps you feel good in the process!

I'm Maru
I’m a parent to 2 young children. When my first born was 10 weeks old I discovered elimination communication (EC) and was shocked that “the world” didn’t know that babies prefer NOT to use nappies and that by 12 months most babies start developing conscious sphincter control. I was desperate to change that so I trained as an EC and Potty Training Consultant.
I am also an Aware Parenting Instructor so I have a deep understanding of the role that feelings and emotions play in all aspects of children’s lives. So I brought the two together to create this course.

How this course is different
Forget the readiness checklist, instead in this course I invite you to look at your child. We chose to use nappies and now we can lead the way out of nappies, meeting our children where they are developmentally.
Did you know that regressions, withholding and refusal to use the toilet all have an emotional cause? The majority of potty training advice ignores this fact, creating an impasse for parents desperate to help their children use the toilet.
This isn’t just a course for your children. This is also a course for YOU. In this course we also look at our own stories - whether we struggle with mess, whether we fear we’ll get it wrong or lack trust in our child, all of these come into play when supporting our children to learn new skills and a new way of responding to their body signals.
Who is this for?
Did you know there are a few simple things you can do from the time your baby is 6+ months that will make the process a lot easier?
This course is for you...
- If you are a parent of a child 12 months and over
- If you would like to learn a method that is respectful AND that prioritises learning about their body
- If you want a method without rewards (or punishments)
- If you've tried a different method of potty training but it didn't work
- If you would like practical tips to deal with fear or resistance to use the potty (again, no rewards or bribing here either)
- If you would like to approach potty learning differently (and maybe even have fun....!)
- If you're looking for a method that is not authoritarian but respects your needs too
- If you’re worried about whether your child is ready or not, mostly because they’re not showing any interest.
