Maybe you were taught that asking questions was a sign of weak faith.
Maybe you read the familiar scriptures and quietly sensed that something was missing. Not necessarily false, but incomplete. As though a much larger spiritual conversation had once taken place and only part of it reached us.
The writings discovered near Nag Hammadi allow us to hear some of those other ancient voices.
They do not all agree with one another, and they do not hand us another tidy religion to follow. What they offer is something more valuable: a glimpse into the questions, visions, and spiritual possibilities being explored during the formative centuries of Christianity.
This course is for people who are ready to examine those possibilities without fear.
You do not have to surrender your reason, abandon everything you believe, or accept my interpretation. You only need the courage to open the door and look for yourself.
What You’ll Discover
The Nag Hammadi Library is not one book with one simple message. It is a collection of ancient voices asking some of the deepest questions humanity has ever faced.
Who are we beneath the identities this world gave us?
Why does the divine sometimes feel hidden?
What did early followers of Yeshua believe before Christianity became a powerful institution?
Across eight classes, we’ll explore the discovery of the manuscripts, the people we call the Gnostics, the formation of the biblical canon, and writings such as the Gospel of Thomas, the Secret Book of John, the Gospel of Philip, Thunder, Perfect Mind, and the Gospel of Truth.
No theology degree required. We’ll take it slowly, speak plainly, and separate what the texts actually say from what others have claimed about them.
