Preface

Dear congregation members and pastors,

The Word of God is a light that illuminates dark times and a compass that provides direction in a chaotic world. The Gospels from Matthew to Revelation are the foundation of the gospel, recording the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This study book was born from a desire to deeply study the Bible verse by verse, correctly interpret its original meaning, and apply it practically to the church and individual lives.

This book goes beyond simply reading the Bible; it is structured around nine thematic sections that analyze, interpret, and apply the Word. Each verse is organized into the following frameworks: ① Explanation ② Interpretation ③ Spiritual Meaning ④ Biblical References ⑤ Redemptive-Historical Meaning ⑥ Who is God? ⑦ Application ⑧ Lessons ⑨ Proclamation, helping you accept the Word not just as knowledge but as life.

Correctly interpreting the Word and putting its meaning into practice are the core things the church must recover today. We earnestly hope that this book will help believers and pastors return to the foundation of the Gospel, accurately proclaim the truth, apply it in their lives, and provide practical assistance in discipleship, preaching, nurturing, and doctrinal education.

We hope this study guide will be a useful resource for your meditation on the Word, sermon preparation, Bible study, and discipleship training. We pray that your ministry will be enriched by the grace and truth that God gives.

New Testament Bible Verses Study(Sermon)

Revelation

--- Revelation 1:1

Rev 1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants the things that must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John,

1. Explanation

The opening of Revelation is a declaration establishing the book's identity and origin. This verse clearly states that Revelation is not merely prophecy or vision, but the very word of God revealed by Jesus Christ Himself.

The word "revelation" comes from the Greek apokalypsis (?ποκ?λυψι?), meaning to uncover or reveal what was hidden.

Thus, the Book of Revelation is a heavenly revelation document that unveils God's hidden will and the events yet to come.

2. Interpretation

"The Revelation of Jesus Christ":

This book is a revelation belonging to Jesus Christ; Jesus Himself is the revealer (the One who reveals), and He is also the central content of the revelation.

"God gave him":

The revelation was transmitted from God the Father to Jesus Christ, demonstrating the redemptive-historical order of the Trinity.

“Things which must shortly come to pass”:

This expression signifies not merely temporal proximity, but events that are certain and will occur swiftly.

Prophecy is not about events whose timing is unknown, but about things that will certainly be fulfilled at God's precise appointed time.

“To show His servants”:

This revelation is not solely for John but for all saints.

“He sent His angel to His servant John”:

An angel appears as the mediator of the revelation, and the recorder is the Apostle John. John introduces himself as a faithful servant (doulos) of God who received the revelation.

3. Summary of Biblical Cross-References

Daniel 2:28: “There is a God who reveals future events.”

John 15:15: “I no longer call you servants, but friends; for everything that I have heard I have made known to you.”

Revelation 22:6: "This saying is faithful and true... so that he might show his servants what must soon take place."

4. Spiritual Meaning

This word is the key that unlocks mysteries.

We may lose our way in a chaotic world, but God is the One who teaches His children about the future.

The revelation of Jesus Christ is not fear but hope,

even the final judgment is part of God's plan for His righteousness and the saints' victory.

5. Redemptive-Historical Meaning

The Book of Revelation shows how the fulfillment of God's kingdom, prophesied in the Old Testament, will be accomplished through Jesus Christ.

The events of Christ's death and resurrection are the climax of redemptive history,

and the Book of Revelation reveals the completion of that redemption and its eschatological perfection.

Jesus is the beginning and the end (the Alpha and the Omega) of revelation.

6. What Kind of Being Is God?

God is the almighty God of revelation who governs the end times.

He does not hide things; He shows His beloved children future events in advance so they may prepare.

God conveys revelation through Jesus Christ, thereby protecting and guiding us.

7. Application

Am I afraid of or avoiding the words concerning the end times?

Now is the time to trust, study, and hold fast to the words of the Book of Revelation.

If I stand in the truth, revelation is not a threat but a declaration of victory.

Prepare daily life within God's plan and live in hope of the Lord's return.

Lesson:

Revelation is the compass for saints in a chaotic world.

Jesus Christ is the Lord of revelation, and all eschatology finds its fulfillment in Him.

Proclamation:

"I am not afraid!

In the revelation of Jesus Christ,

I know God's will,

and live assured of the victory of the end times!

Jesus Christ is my revelation and my hope!”

--- Revelation 1:2

Rev 1:2 John testified to the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ—everything he saw.

1. Explanation

This verse explains how the Apostle John faithfully conveyed this revelation. John was not merely a witness but one who directly received God's word and faithfully testified to it.

He did not merely relay something he had heard, but recorded and testified to what he had personally seen.

This emphasizes the reliability of the entire Book of Revelation.

2. Interpretation

"John":

is not merely a messenger, but a witness and eyewitness to the revelation. This section clarifies his apostolic authority.

"The word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ":

John's testimony rests upon two pillars: the word of God (biblical truth) and the testimony concerning the life, ministry, resurrection, and second coming of Jesus Christ.

“What he saw”:

This phrase emphasizes that the entire Book of Revelation is a record of what was actually 'seen,' not mere vision or imagination.

John saw future events, heavenly worship, judgment and salvation, and the Second Coming of Jesus in a spiritual vision, and he recorded it exactly as he saw it.

"He has testified to all these things":

John faithfully testified to the revelation he received from God, without partiality or distortion, leaving nothing out.

3. Summary of Biblical Cross-References

John 1:14: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We saw his glory..."

John 21:24: “This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.”

Revelation 22:8: "And I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things..."

4. Spiritual Meaning

God conveys His revelation through faithful witnesses.

John, led by the Holy Spirit, faithfully testified to God’s word and the glory of Jesus without distortion.

We too are called to be faithful witnesses of the truth and gospel we have received, just as John was.

5. Redemptive-Historical Meaning

John's testimony is not merely the transmission of revelation, but an extension of God's redemptive history and a foretaste of its completion.

Jesus Christ is the center of this revelation, showing how the truth of the cross and resurrection connects to His future return.

John's testimony serves as a redemptive-historical link, preparing us for the completion of God's kingdom.

6. Who is God?

God is the One who gives revelation,

who preserves and transmits that revelation through faithful people.

He does not conceal His will but reveals it to the church and the saints,

and through His Word, He shines the light of truth upon us.

7. Application

Am I faithfully testifying to the gospel and truth?

Am I merely hearing the word and letting it pass by?

I must become one who testifies to God's Word and the testimony of Jesus Christ through both word and deed in my own life.

Let us resolve to live as faithful witnesses like John.

Lesson:

God's revelation is preserved through faithful witnesses, and His Word becomes the foundation for building the church.

Proclamation:

"I too will be a witness like John!

I will live as one who faithfully proclaims

I will live as one who faithfully proclaims them without falsehood!

God, use me as a witness to the truth!"

--- Revelation 1:3

Rev 1:3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.

1. Explanation

This verse is the core blessing declaration of the entire Book of Revelation, showing that this book is not merely a collection of mysterious visions or a warning of fearful judgment, but a promise of blessing and responsibility.

God's prophetic word contains the promise of blessing for those who read, hear, and keep it. This connects to passages in the Old Testament law books declaring "Blessed are those who..."

2. Interpretation

"Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy":

In the church at that time, there was a public reader who read the word aloud. It says that the reader also receives blessing.

"and those who hear it":

This means all the saints within the church—those who hear the word, listen attentively, and give it their full attention—are also blessed.

“and those who keep what is written in it”:

The Book of Revelation is not merely a book for knowledge, but a word demanding life transformation and obedience.

The word 'keep' means to remember and practice, to preserve and follow.

“Blessed are”:

This blessing is not merely material prosperity, but spiritual discernment, God's protection, true hope, and ultimately the blessing of salvation's completion.

"The time is near":

The nearness of the end times is precisely why we must read and keep this word with even greater care.

While it conveys the temporal sense of 'soon,' it also declares that God's clock of redemption has entered its final phase.

3. Summary of Biblical Cross-References

Luke 11:28: “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”

James 1:22: “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

Matthew 24:33: "When you see all these things, know that the Son of Man is near, at the very gates."

4. Spiritual Meaning

This passage teaches us the attitude believers should have in preparing for the end times.

It demands that we not merely "stop at hearing," nor "remain at reading," but act and keep it.

The believer's blessing comes from obedience and practice of the Word, which is the result of spiritual awakening and full hope.

5. Redemptive-Historical Meaning

Jesus Christ is the center of the entire Bible, and the Book of Revelation is the book that proclaims His return and the completion of redemption.

Those who read and keep His words will ultimately triumph with the Lamb and enjoy the blessing of entering the new heavens and new earth.

God completes the history of redemption and grants this blessing only to those who keep His word.

6. What Kind of Being Is God?

God is the God who reveals Himself,

and He is the God who blesses those who keep His revelation.

He is the merciful Lord who rules over time, who warns in advance that the time is near so that we may prepare.

7. Application

Am I merely reading the Word and letting it pass me by?

Whenever I hear the Word, let me adopt an attitude of putting it into practice in my life.

Practice daily the discipline of memorizing, applying, and keeping the Word.

That is the true image of a blessed person.

Lesson:

The Book of Revelation is not a book of fear, but a book of hope promising blessings to those who keep the Word.

Blessing lies in hearing and doing.

Declaration:

"I will treasure and keep this word!

In the end times, I will stay awake and be prepared,

and stand as one who lives out the Word!

God, establish me as one who is blessed!”
