The End of the World
Patagonia is what happens when geography stops trying to be convenient — mountains rising straight out of empty plains, glaciers pouring between them, and wind sweeping thousands of miles of steppe. This journey crosses the Chilean-Argentine frontier and unfolds slowly enough that the emptiness becomes part of the experience: the granite towers and multi-day W Circuit of Torres del Paine, the Strait of Magellan at Punta Arenas, the calving wall of Perito Moreno, the day-hike to Fitz Roy, the vast solitude of Ruta 40 and a steppe estancia, and finally the green, alpine calm of Bariloche. Patagonia's greatest achievement isn't making you feel like an explorer — it's making you realize how much world there still is.
