Londoner Shawl - a knitting pattern

Most of this shawl was knit during my stay in London & Bath over a year ago. I would sit in the cafes in Islington and knit a motif or two of the lace, then hop on the train to Bath to finish it with a pint and a knitting buddy by my side.

So many nice memories in each stitch…

The shawl was designed to showcase “tweed” blends, but feel welcome to use any fingering weight yarn you wish - after all knitting is meant to be fun, right?

Approx. 180 cm/71” wide along top edge and 55 cm/22” high.

Suzy Parker Yarns, Irish Jig (85% merino, 15% rayon; 400m/437y per 100g); colorway: Perfect Storm (dark blue version); 2 skeins

Martin’s Lab, Tweed Merino (85% merino, 15% rayon; 400m/437y per 100g); colorway: In My Garden (green version); 2 skeins.

Needles
Size 3.75 mm/US #5 or size needed for gauge; 80 cm/32” circular.
Size 3.5 mm/US #4 or one size smaller than gauge needles; 80 cm/32”circular.

Other
stitch marker, tapestry needle for weaving.

Gauge
21 sts and 44 rows over 10 cm/4” in Garter st with larger needles, after wet blocking.
