Manthanein Cardigan
The instant I finished the Manthanein pullover, I knew the pattern was destined to be adapted into a cardigan. It has a classic feel with cables down the side seams and down the center front; however, it is the back shoulder cables that add something really special.
The Manthanein Cardigan has a bit more ease to the bust and sleeves than the pullover, and has a couple of tweaks to make sure that those front buttons stay closed when it’s supposed to be buttoned up. Other than that, it is the same beautiful sweater now in cardigan form.

Manthanein Cardigan is worked top-down with a European shoulder seam. The back yoke is worked first. The back neck width is cast on, then increases occur until the cross back width is reached. The left and right front are picked up from the back yoke shoulder edge, creating a diagonal seam on the back shoulder. The fronts and back are worked separately to the underarm, then joined to work in one piece back and forth to the hem with A-line increases.
The sleeves are picked up from the armhole edge, and the shoulder cap shaped with short rows. The sleeve is then knit top-down and in the round to the cuff.
The button bands are picked up from the edges of the centre front. The collar is picked up and worked last.
Cables are charted only.
