1-on-1 Tutoring with Joshua West

Personalized, one-on-one tutoring built around your goals, current performance, learning needs, and timeline.

Whether you’re preparing for an important exam, working through a challenging course, strengthening foundational skills, or aiming for a higher level of performance, we’ll focus each session on the areas that can make the greatest difference.

Personalized Tutoring Built Around You

Every student starts from a different place—and effective tutoring should reflect that.

I provide individualized 1-on-1 tutoring for standardized test preparation and a wide range of academic subjects, with sessions tailored to the student’s current strengths, challenges, goals, available preparation time, and learning needs.

Depending on the student and subject, tutoring may include:

• Identifying strengths, weaknesses, and high-priority areas for improvement

• Breaking difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps

• Developing stronger problem-solving and test-taking strategies

• Practicing with targeted questions and examples

• Reviewing mistakes to identify patterns and misconceptions

• Building more efficient study and practice habits

• Creating or refining a personalized learning plan

• Assigning focused practice between sessions when appropriate

• Monitoring progress and adjusting our approach as needs change

My goal is not simply to help students get through the next problem. I want students to better understand what they are doing, recognize when and how to use what they have learned, and become increasingly confident and independent.

Ready to get started?

Use the intake form below to get started. Once I process your form you will then be able to use my Zoom Scheduler to view current availability, select the appropriate tutoring service, complete the student intake form, and schedule and pay for your session:

The scheduler will collect the additional information I need before our first session, so you do not need to provide a lengthy intake here on Payhip.

What to Expect from Your Tutoring

Our sessions are individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.

Before we meet, the information you provide through my Zoom Scheduler helps me understand what you’re working on, what you hope to accomplish, and any important deadlines or exam dates.

During tutoring, we can work together to:

• Clarify difficult concepts and fill important knowledge gaps

• Diagnose why particular questions or skills are causing difficulty

• Develop reliable strategies for recognizing and solving problems

• Practice applying skills in increasingly independent ways

• Analyze errors rather than simply correcting answers

• Improve pacing, accuracy, and decision-making for timed exams

• Connect individual lessons to larger academic or testing goals

As we continue working together, sessions can adapt to progress, new assignments, practice-test results, changing priorities, and upcoming deadlines.

You’ll receive personalized instruction—not a prerecorded lesson or generic curriculum.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule a tutoring session?

One complete the form above and I process it, you will use my Zoom Scheduler to view current availability, choose the tutoring service that best fits your needs, complete the intake questions, and schedule your session.

The Zoom Scheduler is the primary booking system for my 1-on-1 tutoring sessions.

What happens after I book?

After completing your booking, you’ll receive confirmation and the information needed for your session. Please complete all requested intake information as thoroughly as possible so I can better understand the student’s goals, current needs, and any important upcoming exams, assignments, or deadlines.

Can I book more than one tutoring session?

Absolutely. You can return to my Zoom Scheduler whenever you’d like to book another available session. Students who work with me regularly can use future sessions to build on previous work, monitor progress, adjust goals, and address new needs as they arise.

What can we work on during tutoring?

Sessions are individualized and may include standardized-test preparation, academic subjects, concept review, homework support, problem solving, study strategies, test-taking strategies, error analysis, learning-plan development, and other appropriate educational goals.

If you’re unsure whether I can help with a particular subject, course, exam, or goal, feel free to send an inquiry before booking.

What should I provide before our first session?

The Zoom Scheduler will ask for the main information I need. When relevant, it is also helpful to have materials such as:

  • recent test or practice-test results;
  • assignments or homework;
  • class notes or study guides;
  • previous assessments;
  • screenshots or files showing areas of difficulty;
  • specific questions or topics you want to address.

The more useful context I have, the easier it is to make our time together productive.

Where are tutoring sessions held?

Unless otherwise arranged, sessions are conducted online through Zoom. Your booking confirmation will provide the appropriate session information.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Please use the scheduling and cancellation options associated with your Zoom booking whenever available. Any applicable cancellation, rescheduling, late-cancellation, or refund terms presented during booking will apply.

If you experience a problem or unusual circumstance, please contact me as soon as reasonably possible.

Can I receive a refund?

Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances and any applicable terms presented when the session is booked or purchased. Because tutoring reserves a specific block of time, completed sessions and certain late cancellations may not be eligible for a refund.

If you believe there has been a billing or scheduling problem, please contact me so I can review the situation.

Do you guarantee a particular grade, score increase, or academic result?

No. Tutoring can provide personalized instruction, strategy, practice, feedback, and support, but academic and testing outcomes depend on many factors—including the student’s starting point, attendance, preparation, independent practice, available timeline, and performance on the actual assessment.

My goal is to provide high-quality, individualized support and help each student make the strongest progress reasonably possible.
