Mississippi Mud Pie

Whenever I saw a Mississippi Mud Pie on a restaurant menu, I immediately knew what dessert was going to be. If you're not familiar with this Southern treat, typically it includes a chocolate cookie crust, chocolate custard, and a whipped cream topping, although there are many variations which I have pulled from. My creation consists of Chocolate Espresso ice cream*, Oreo cookies, Toasted Pecans, and Lightly Salted Chocolate Ganache all in one heavenly quart of goodness. I recommend serving it with copious amounts of whipped cream for the full Mississippi Mud Pie experience. If you are a chocolate lover like I am, this flavor has your name written all over it!

*This flavor is an egg-free delight. I went this route so the chocolate and espresso wouldn't be muted by egg yolks. It is thickened with a touch of cornstarch and both the flavor and texture are but a dream.
