Ealhswith Hat & Mittens

Feminine and fearlessly rugged, rich cabling runs down this timeless accessory set. Two-stitch cables travel to new levels of complexity, designed to satisfy the adventurous knitter; the right and left hand mittens are worked as mirror images of each other. Densely knit with a secure cuff and roomy hand, these mittens are the perfect companion to a chilly day. The band of the matching hat is knit sideways and stitches are picked up for the crown and brim. Named for Ealhswith of Mercia, wife of Alfred the Great.

Yarn: Peace Fleece DK (75% Navajo Ramboulliet and Domestic Wool/25% Texas Mohair, 4 oz/350 yd), 1 skein

Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm) set of 5 dpns or 24” circular needle for Magic Loop, US 6 (4mm) 16” circular needle and set of 5 dpns, US 2 (2.75 mm) straight needles
