The Winding Roads Hat is inspired by all the twisting and winding roads up in the Aso mountains in the Kumamoto prefecture of Japan. The thicker cable pattern represents the more commonly travel roads, with its broad and long-stretching turns, while the eyelet pattern mimic the smaller and less commonly known side detours. This hat can be knitted up in about two days and makes for an enjoyable and easy project, great for both beginner and advanced knitters.

Yarn: 200 yards of sport weight yarn
Needle: 32-inch or longer, US 4 and US 6 circular needle or 16-inch, US 4 and US 6 circular needle and US 6 DPNs.
Gauge: 6 1/2 sts per inch, 9 rows per inch
Finished measurements: length 7 1/2 inches, circumference 6 1/2 inches laid flat, 22” stretched.

Special thanks to my test knitter Angela (bananaleg) who helped to test knit and tech edit the design.
Additionally, she created the “Accidental Slouch” while knitting this. If you wish to knit the hat with a slouch to it here are the specifications:
