Exploring Brussels with Kids - Self-Guided Tour
Exploring Brussels with Kids - An Interactive and Fun Guide for the Whole Family
Get ready to explore a European capital filled with a rich history and the best snacks!
Brussels is only an hour's train ride from Paris, making it a wonderful day trip or stopover while in Europe! To create this family-friendly guide, I partnered with local Brussels mom, Pauline Henry, for the best route, snack stops and parks. Only a local parent would have all the insight covered in this guide!
This self-guided tour of Brussels starts not far from the train station, with a panoramic view of the city center. It will then guide you through the unique mix of cobblestone streets and medieval houses, ornate Art Nouveau architecture and sleek modern buildings, keeping an eye out for comic books murals and street art. You'll learn a bit about art - Magritte and surrealism both have roots in Brussels! And you will of course get acquainted with some delightful, rather kid-friendly, Belgian specialties - chocolate, french fries and waffles included.
This guide is meant to accompany you through your visit to Brussels – it will give you prompts and questions to keep your kids engaged, while the whole family learns about this incredible city!
The highlights of this walk include
- A panoramic view over all of Brussels, right by the huge ferris wheel
- Learning about the art of Brussels, including Magritte and surrealism
- Hearing about the Middle Ages in Brussels
- Hitting up some of the best chocolate shops around!
- Visiting iconic Brussels spots like the silly Manneken Pis and the imposing Grande Place
- Plenty of cafe, restaurant and park options
