14 Academic Punjabi samples (Lahore)
All south asians descend from 3 ancient populations. The neolithic zagrosians, the ancestral Indians, and the Steppe Indo-Europeans. The ratios vary from region to region and from caste to caste. Typically, higher caste south asians tend to have higher steppe admixture, while tribal communities have higher ancestral Indian. Certain communities, such as the Gujjars, Balochis, and Todas have high Neolithic Zagrosian admixture.
In this video, I will examine 14 genomes of Punjabis from the human genome diversity project. 11 of these samples belong to the Punjabi.HO and Punjabi.DG groups on Harvard’s official aadr dataset. 3 samples were from European Nucleotide Archive.
