17L Rolltop Daypack Pattern

This is a free draft PDF pattern template for a roughly 17L rolltop daypack that I made recently for a friend.

The pack uses curved S-shaped shoulder straps, a rolltop closure, an exterior pocket, an interior pocket, a separate interior phone pocket, and basic exterior water bottle pockets. The water bottle pockets are best made from stretch fabric.

This download contains the draft pattern template only. It does not include sewing instructions, construction diagrams, an assembly sequence, or a detailed material list.

The draft pattern is currently provided only as an A0/large-format PDF. There is no tiled Letter or A4 version at the moment. You'll need access to large-format printing or another way to work from an A0 PDF. Message me if would benefit from a letter sized print and if there's enough interest, I'll consider making one.

If you're comfortable looking at pattern pieces and working out the construction from the finished-bag photos, have at it. If you need step-by-step instructions, this probably isn't the pattern for you yet.

Maybe someday I'll write the instructions and put together additional print formats. For now, it's free and you're on your own.
