The Orlík armored train was an improvised armored train of the Czechoslovak Legion during the Russian Civil War. It was created in Penza on May 29, 1918. The armored component initially consisted of two armored cars on flatbed wagons. After the capture of Simbirsk on July 22, 1918, the 1st and 4th Czechoslovak Regiments captured, among other things, the armored train "Pěrvyj leninskyj broněpojezd" whose modern armored cars, consisting of an armored locomotive and two gun cars of the Russian army's standard "Chunchuz" armored train and an armored draisine "Zaamurec," armed with two guns in rotating turrets, then became the most famous armored train formation, the Orlík. The locomotive was almost in the middle of the train so that the gun cars would not have their firing range obscured, and at the front, Czechoslovak legionnaires hitched an empty flatcar, which was supposed to reveal any possible mining of the track.
