This is Part 8 of the book entitled "The Revival of China". The full book is about the revival of China in the 20th century and the first decade of the 21st century. This part of the book records how DENG Xiao-ping pushed for reform and opening up along the socialist road with Chinese characters. It covers how HUA Guo-feng dealt with the problem of “the gang of four”, how HU Yao-bang push for the discussion on “practice is the only criterion for checking the correctness of a theory” and for rehabilitation of unjust verdicts in the past, the June 4th incident, the JIANG Ze-ming’s era and the HU Jing-tao’s era.
