Ready to run tonight. Two players. The drunken dare they never thought they'd actually pull off.

At the Foamfall Festival in Hammergrove, the players' close friend Borin Mugbreaker dares them to steal the Golden Stein from the Brewer's Guild — a dare they accepted before realizing he was serious. Last Stein Standing is a 5E-compatible heist comedy one-shot for two players at levels 2-3, designed to play in two to three hours with zero preparation required. Three branching paths to the heist, four memorable NPCs, a sobriety mechanic with a hidden secret, and a finale that rewards both careful planning and blackout mistakes.

The Sobriety Mechanic

Each act ends with a Constitution save. Failures stack into intoxication tiers — Tipsy, Drunk, Sloshed, Wasted. Players see the penalties and assume they should stay sober. They're wrong. Failing the saves opens a hidden path to a divine encounter most adventures will never see. The smart player drinks too much. The safe player wins the boast and never knows what they missed.

Why Two Players?

Most published adventures assume four-to-six-player parties. Two-player tables don't fit — combat trivializes, skill checks bottleneck, dialogue lopsides. Last Stein Standing is designed for two from the first sentence. Encounter math, branching paths, and the Sobriety mechanic all assume a duet. Scales cleanly to three players with notes in every encounter.

Moments You'll Remember

The brawl that started over a spilled drink. The drinking contest with a barrel-chested champion who laughs before he chugs. The foam-hound that dissolves in a single bucket of water. The Brewmaster who catches them at the gate, warhammer slung across her back, expression hard but not yet drawn. And the Stein — lifted to a Wasted PC's lips at the right moment — that pulls them into a celestial brewery where a forgotten god offers three boons.

The Cast

Four pre-gens ship with the adventure, each connected to Borin: Hjalmar Stonefist, a Hill Dwarf Fighter and Borin's old mercenary friend; Frida Stonewell, a Hill Dwarf Cleric who once set Borin's cousin's broken back; Sable Marrowsong, a Half-Elf Bard whom Borin smuggled out of town disguised as a sack of barley; and Hen Brindlebee, a Halfling Rogue who tried to fleece Borin at cards and got bought a beer instead.
