AI can produce polished lessons, explanations, and student work remarkably quickly.
But polished does not necessarily mean learned.
The CARE Lesson Re-Design Workshop is a live, hands-on professional learning experience for teachers who want to design lessons that make student thinking more visible, protect the intellectual work students need to do for themselves, and use AI as a thinking partner rather than a replacement for thinking.
This is not a three-hour lecture about AI prompts.
You will bring one real lesson, assignment, activity, or mini-unit that you teach or plan to teach and move it through the same CARE learning process you can ultimately use with your students:
C — Clarify
What does this lesson actually need to accomplish? What should students understand, question, create, test, or decide? Which thinking must remain student-owned?
A — Articulate
Turn those intentions into a concrete first CARE lesson pathway. Design how students will encounter the material, capture their own thinking, explain ideas in their own words, refine those ideas, and ultimately do something meaningful with what they learn.
R — Refine
Challenge the first plausible version. Strengthen the lesson through the CARE note-development process, mental models, peer discussion, professional judgment, and AI where it serves a clear purpose.
E — Execute
Prepare to take the lesson into your classroom. Decide what you will test, what evidence of student thinking you will collect, and what you will watch for so the classroom experience can inform your next CARE cycle.
The workshop is a design cycle. True Execute happens when the lesson meets your students.
What you'll leave with
By the end of the workshop, you should have:
- A clarified learning target and student-thinking problem
- A complete first CARE lesson pathway
- A stronger revised lesson shaped by feedback and your professional judgment
- A visible path showing how student thinking develops from first encounter to meaningful action
- Clear boundaries for AI use, if AI is appropriate for your classroom
- A practical classroom Execution Plan
- An evidence question to help you evaluate what happens when you teach the lesson
- A Teacher Action Note identifying exactly what you will carry forward
CARE is built around a simple principle:
AI gives us access to more information than ever, but CARE gives us a way to slow down and actually work with that information.
Teachers use CARE to design the learning. Students use CARE to learn how to learn.
Your workshop resources
Your registration includes:
- The CARE AI-Ready Classroom Starter Kit:
- A complete teacher implementation guide for redesigning lessons around visible student thinking.
- The Starter Kit includes the CARE learning loop, My Thinking First, Quick Capture, Source Notes, Thinking Notes, Action Notes, the notebook-to-second-brain-to-action workflow, mental models, AI thinking-partner prompts, lesson redesign tools, classroom examples, and implementation guidance.
- The CARE Note-Taking Method: From Notes to Action
- A deeper workbook for turning what you read, study, observe, and experience into connected thinking and meaningful output.
- It expands the CARE process from first notebook thinking through articulation, refinement, AI-supported dialogue, and tangible action.
- CARE Lesson Re-Design Workshop Materials
- You'll receive the materials used during the live workshop so you can develop your own lesson alongside the session and return to the process afterward.
- Feedback & Reflection Forms
- Because this is a 2nd founding pilot, your experience will help shape the next version of the workshop and The CARE Teaching Method.
- You'll receive feedback forms for the CARE resources and the workshop itself. I want to know what helped, what created friction, what needs clarification, and what should change before the next iteration.
Workshop schedule
0:00–0:20 | Understand the CARE Learning & Design Loop
See how teachers use CARE to design learning while students use the same process to learn.
0:20–0:50 | Clarify Your Lesson
Define your learning target, student context, constraints, meaningful outcome, and the thinking students need to own.
0:50–1:15 | Articulate Your First CARE Lesson
Turn your Clarify work into a concrete lesson pathway and inspect the first version before accepting it.
1:15–1:30 | Break
1:30–2:25 | Refine the First Plausible Draft
Strengthen the CARE architecture, visible learning trail, thinking tools, AI boundaries, and classroom practicality.
2:25–2:40 | Prepare to Execute
Choose the smallest realistic version to test and decide what evidence you will collect from students.
2:40–2:45 | Close the CARE Loop
Write your Teacher Action Note and identify the question you want your classroom implementation to answer.
What to bring
Please come with:
- One lesson, assignment, activity, text, problem, or mini-unit you would like to improve
- Your knowledge of the students you are designing it for
- A notebook or other place to capture your thinking
- Access to an AI tool if you would like to use one during the workshop
AI is optional.
The CARE Teaching Method is a learning framework first. You can design a CARE lesson without having students use AI at all.
What happens after you register?
After purchasing your workshop registration through Payhip, you will receive access to:
- The Zoom link for the live workshop
- The CARE AI-Ready Classroom Starter Kit
- The CARE Note-Taking Method: From Notes to Action
- Workshop materials and instructions
- Links to the CARE resource and workshop feedback forms
Please download or save your materials before the workshop and have one lesson in mind that you would like to redesign.
Can't attend live?
The workshop will be recorded.
If you register but are unable to attend the live session, you will still receive access to the workshop recording and all included workshop materials.
Naturally, attending live gives you the additional benefit of working alongside the group and participating in discussion and feedback, but your registration does not disappear into the digital void simply because life decides to happen on August 30.
Cancellation and refund policy
- If the workshop is canceled, you will receive a full refund.
- If you need to cancel your own registration before the workshop, you may also request a full refund.
- Participants who simply cannot attend live may instead retain access to the recording and all included materials.
Who this workshop is for
This workshop is especially useful for:
- Classroom teachers who want students to think more independently
- Teachers trying to respond constructively to AI in education
- Educators who want a repeatable process for designing more active learning
- Teachers who want students to explain, connect, challenge, and apply ideas rather than simply submit finished products
- Curriculum designers, instructional coaches, and teacher-leaders who design or improve learning experiences
You do not need to be an AI expert.
You do need to be willing to bring a real lesson, question your first design, and work on it.
Why this is a founding pilot
This is the first live pilot of the CARE Lesson Re-Design Workshop.
That means you are not simply purchasing access to a finished presentation. You are helping test how CARE works as a professional learning experience with real teachers and real lessons.
Your questions, feedback, classroom experience, and observations will help shape future versions of the workshop and the larger CARE professional learning program.
The goal of the pilot is not perfection.
The goal is to create one lesson worth testing, put it into the real world, learn from what happens, and carry that evidence into the next CARE cycle.
