Winter Birch Tree Art Project Art Lesson Winter Art Activity Winter Art Project
In this Winter Birch Tree Landscape Art Project, students paint a snowy scene of birch trees using paint and oil pastels, exploring texture, contrast and layering as they go. It is a seasonal way to introduce landscape art and reinforce the Elements of Art during the winter months.
The project is accessible for all skill levels and fits both elementary and middle school art students. Step-by-step guided instruction is balanced with room for personal artistic choices, and the finished pieces make a lovely winter bulletin board.
WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING
★★★★★ “This resource helped my students to produce some lovely winter artwork. They enjoyed playing with the pastels and paint, though some students had a hard time getting the "resist" technique to work (the paint went right through their pastel layer). I would recommend testing out the resist with your own pastels so you can see how it works before your students give it a shot.” Tamara D.
