Jerome Huggett, entertainer to the house of Wykenham at the Maltorreth Watch, serves the Watch Lord, his Emperor and the Dorayan Empire with a great devotion.

Yet he knows that he is of little import in the machinations of the world.

When the forces of the Southern Lords unite under the banner of Cernak and lay siege to the Watches that protect the Empire, his Lord entrusts Jerome with a task in service of the house of the emperor himself.
