Compare two repayment approaches and build a clearer monthly debt plan.

Life Unlocked Debt Freedom Calculator is a beginner-friendly Excel workbook for UK customers exploring repayment scenarios for suitable unsecured debts. Enter up to six balances, APRs and current minimum payments, add an affordable extra monthly amount, then compare separate snowball and avalanche forecasts.

WHAT YOU GET

• One downloadable Excel workbook (.xlsx) with five tabs: START HERE, DASHBOARD, DEBTS, SNOWBALL and AVALANCHE.

• Independently calculated snowball and avalanche plans.

• Estimated debt-free dates, total repayments and interest costs when the plan clears within 360 months.

• Adjustable extra monthly repayments and automatic rollover of freed payments.

• A projected balance chart and detailed monthly schedules.

• Plain-English instructions, entry checks and protected formula cells.

• GBP amounts, UK dates and links to free UK debt support.

HOW IT WORKS

The monthly budget stays at the starting minimum payments plus your extra amount. All active minimums are reserved first. Freed payments and extra money go to the next debt in the fixed starting order. Snowball uses the smallest starting balance first; avalanche uses the highest APR first. Neither method is a recommendation or a guarantee of savings.

IMPORTANT ASSUMPTIONS

Interest is estimated using APR divided by 12 and rounded through integer pence and APR basis points. APR entry supports two decimal places, such as 24.99%. Payments occur at the end of each full model month. No partial-month interest, daily interest, fees, missed payments, new borrowing, promotional-rate expiry or early-repayment charges are modelled. APRs and minimums stay fixed. The limit is six debts and 360 months (30 years). Incomplete plans do not show a debt-free date or full payoff costs.

COMPATIBILITY AND USAGE

Use Microsoft Excel for the web or a current desktop Excel version. No macros, bank connections or paid services are required by the workbook. Excel access is separate. Other spreadsheet apps are not supported or verified. A larger screen is recommended for schedules; use landscape view for the debt table on a phone. Physical iPhone testing has not been performed.

Save your own copy and edit only the blue cells on DEBTS. Enter APR with the % sign, for example 24%. Leave unused rows blank and update your figures from statements when circumstances change. Formula protection has no password and is not encryption.

EDUCATIONAL USE

Forecasts are estimates, not personalised financial or debt advice or guaranteed outcomes. Essential bills and priority debts come first. Do not prioritise unsecured debts over rent, mortgage, Council Tax, energy bills or other priority debts. This is not an affordability assessment or a substitute for free debt advice.
