About the artwork

Alphonse Mucha published Documents décoratifs in Paris in 1902, a book of designs meant to teach the Art Nouveau style to craftspeople. This plate shows tall poppies above swirling leaves in Mucha's soft colours. We charted the main panel as a repeating border-style design.
