DevCache Scout is a review-first Windows utility for finding rebuildable development caches.

Old Unity, Unreal, Godot, Node, Python, Rust, .NET, Maven, and Gradle projects can quietly keep gigabytes of generated data. DevCache Scout scans only the folders you choose, verifies real project markers, measures each cache, and shows everything before changing anything.

WHAT IT DOES

• Detects known project-local caches across nine development toolchains

• Shows logical file size, path, type, restore label, and modified date

• Sorts results by size so the useful wins are obvious

• Opens any result in Explorer for inspection

• Exports the complete scan as CSV

• Leaves dependency folders and IDE state opt-in

SAFETY

• Local fixed drives only; network, removable, and reparse-point paths are rejected

• Revalidates every project signature immediately before cleanup

• Uses the Windows fail-closed Recycle Bin operation with no permanent-delete fallback

• No administrator access, accounts, telemetry, uploads, or network features

• Close editors and build tools before cleanup and review every path

YOU GET

• Portable self-contained Windows x64 app

• Full source code

• Quick-start guide, privacy notes, license, changelog, and SHA-256 checksum

LIMITATIONS

Windows 10/11 x64 only. The executable is not code-signed, so SmartScreen may warn on first launch. This is a signature-based developer cache finder, not a general system cleaner. Rebuilding caches can take time, and dependency folders need their package manager to restore them. Empty the Recycle Bin afterward when you are ready to make the disk space available.
