Who Built This Classroom? — Unit One: FREE Student Workbook
Download free. No email required.
Who Built This Classroom? is a five-unit student programme for African secondary school students aged 15–18. It asks the question no syllabus has ever asked:
Who built your classroom — and what did they build it to do?
This is the complete Unit One student workbook. Print it. Use it with a class, a student group, a debate club, or a single student. No preparation required beyond reading the first two pages.
Inside Unit One, students:
- Encounter the documented history of the colonial curriculum — who designed it, for what purposes, and how those purposes still operate today
- Learn to identify the three mechanisms through which the colonial curriculum works: language, erasure, and the examination
- Complete a personal sovereign self-assessment across six statements
- Engage with three group discussion questions designed to produce genuine thinking — not comfortable answers
- Write and sign their first personal commitment
This is a complete, standalone session. It runs in 90 minutes and requires nothing except printed copies and pens.
If what you find here is worthy of your students — the complete programme (all five student workbooks plus all five teacher facilitation guides) is available as a bundle on this page.
