Saw it or told? Eight gentle cases about how we know what we know: the telephone game, a park rumor, a memory tray, coin dates and cereal-box claims. Stand-alone, ages 6–9.

Some things you know because you saw them. Some things you know because somebody told you. Both count, but they aren’t the same kind of knowing.

Who Told You? gives young investigators three easy questions: Who said it? How do they know? How can I check? It builds careful thinking without teaching kids to distrust everyone, and “I don’t know yet” is always an honest answer.

What’s inside (8 cases):

•     Sort What You Know: saw it myself, or somebody told me?

•     The Telephone game: how messages change

•     Follow the Trail: how a little piece of news travels

•     Interview a Grown-Up: how do you know that?

•     Kim’s Game: a memory tray test

•     Coin Detective: which coin is really older?

•     Box Detective: who says it’s the best?

•     Check It Twice: true, not true, or I don’t know yet

Every case has three parts:

•     The Case: a short read-aloud with a picture, three words to trace and two easy questions.

•     Field Work: one real hands-on activity using things from around the house.

•     My Own Case: a drawing page that turns the case toward your child’s own life. These pages are theirs to keep private.

Good to know:

•     33-page printable PDF, US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), black-and-white pages that print cleanly at home

•     Stand-alone: no other book needed (pairs nicely with The Name Before the Name)

•     Ages 6–9 (grades 1–3). Big print, tracing, drawing and short answers; drawing an answer always counts

•     Includes an “Open the Case” starter page, a word search, a Case Closed certificate, and a grown-up guide, “Things to Listen For,” with answers

•     Your download includes both a Canadian edition and a U.S. edition (spelling and a few examples differ)

•     Print for your own household or one classroom
