This book is a work of Christian historical fiction. The Bible does not tell us the man's childhood, his parents' names, his occupation, whether he was married, whether he had children, or what happened to him before he came to live among the tombs. Those portions of this book are therefore fictional. They are written to help the reader imagine what his life might have been like without changing what Scripture actually tells us. Beginning with the biblical encounter between the demon-possessed man and Jesus, the story follows the Gospel accounts carefully. The biblical portions are based especially on: ● Mark 5:1–20 ● Luke 8:26–39 ● Matthew 8:28–34 Where the Gospel writers give us specific details, those details are preserved. Where Scripture is silent, this book does not claim to know what happened. The purpose of this story is not to add to Scripture. It is to help us think about the mercy of Christ. It is the story of a man whom almost everyone had given up on—but whom Jesus did not give up on.
