Turn “where do I start?” into a focused senior job search.

You know how to lead. Choosing your next role can still feel unclear: similar titles hide different responsibilities, every company looks worth researching, and it is hard to know which conversations to start.

The Career Crafter Senior Job Search Strategy Kit gives you a practical sequence for making those decisions. Work through a visual tutorial, see a completed fictional example, then build your own search strategy in the editable workbook.

Give your search a clear business case

A senior search asks you to explain three things: the work you want to lead, why an employer might need that work, and what evidence makes your contribution credible.

This kit connects those answers. Your role choice shapes your company list. Your achievements support your positioning. Your priorities determine who you contact and what you do next. That gives each research session, message and application a purpose.

Build these practical outputs

• A primary target role and one adjacent option, defined by the work, leadership scope, employer context and your boundaries.

• A prioritised company list, working toward 20 suitable employers, with sources, unknowns and next actions. Keep only five active at a time; do not pad the list if fewer fit.

• Six career evidence records that separate your accountability, actions, results and what you can safely substantiate.

• A clear positioning statement supported by your strongest relevant achievements.

• A search-channel plan and five tailored outreach drafts: reconnect, new contact, recruiter, specific-role referral and follow-up.

• A manageable 30-day plan, a manual action log, weekly review and a one-page search brief you can update as you learn.

A guided tutorial you can actually follow

Begin with the 30-minute starter: one boundary, one provisional role and one proof note. Then use the clickable six-stage roadmap:

• Choose your role. Compare two options against real market evidence.

• Choose companies. Screen, prioritise and decide what deserves attention.

• Build your case. Turn genuine achievements into credible positioning.

• Choose your routes. Match your time, contacts and messages to the search.

• Run the plan. Apply selectively and give each action a date.

• Learn and adjust. Review evidence and change one thing at a time.

Each core lesson includes a goal, time allowance, what to bring, a worked example, a “Your Turn” worksheet, a completion check and the next step. Flowcharts and decision diagrams help you see the process. The examples are fictional, with an operations-leadership case and optional technology-leadership adaptations.

What is included

Who this is for

Experienced managers, senior managers and functional leaders who are preparing for a move, returning to the market or restarting an unfocused search. It is especially useful before you have a clear shortlist of opportunities.

You will get the most from it if you are ready to research employers, make choices, verify your evidence and take relevant actions. It is written in English for a global audience, with reminders to adapt to local hiring conditions.

Know what you are buying

This is a self-paced digital strategy and planning kit. It does not include live coaching, video lessons, personalised reviews, a job-lead database, recruiter introductions, a done-for-you search, a résumé or LinkedIn rewrite, interview preparation or offer negotiation. No spreadsheet tracker is included; the DOCX workbook contains a manual action log.

Files and compatibility: You need a PDF reader, the ability to open a ZIP file and a desktop word processor that can edit DOCX. Workbook layout and sample-entry checks used LibreOffice. Native Microsoft Word and Google Docs compatibility has not been verified. Fonts and page breaks may change in your app or as you add longer answers. The PDF embeds its fonts. A desktop or laptop is recommended for completing the workbook.

Frequently asked questions

How long will it take?

The first-win exercise is designed around a 30-minute session. For the full first pass, allow roughly 8–10 focused hours across 2–3 weeks, then choose a sustainable weekly rhythm. These are planning allowances, not tested completion promises. You can act on one suitable target before finishing the whole company list, and extend the setup period if your weekly time is limited.

Do I need AI or another paid tool?

No. Every lesson has a human-led path. Optional prompts help you question or refine anonymised material; they do not replace research, judgement or fact-checking. No paid AI subscription or separate tracker purchase is required.

Is the company list a database of live vacancies?

No. The completed list is a clearly labelled fictional example that teaches the scoring process. You build your own list using current, verifiable sources. A company priority score is a way to allocate attention, not a prediction of hiring probability.

Will this guarantee interviews or a job?

No. The kit helps you produce decisions, evidence and a plan you control. Employers, market conditions and hiring outcomes remain outside its control. No job, shortlist, salary or response is guaranteed.

Can I use it for a confidential search?

The guide includes privacy and sharing checks. Keep your working copy private, use only information you are entitled to share, and remember that profile settings cannot guarantee confidentiality.

Who can I contact about file access?

For file-access questions, contact shyam@career-crafter.com.
