Nummi is a triangular shawl worked in garter stitch. The stockinette stitch stripes and the picot edge add visual interest to this very simple shawl. The shawl is worked with lace weight yarn, so despite the squishy garter stitch, the result is light and airy.

The Finnish word nummi means moorland.

Yarn:
Lace weight, around 700 m/766 yd per 100 g.

Yardage:
Either 170 g/1200 m (1310 yd) of lace weight yarn worked as is
or 170 g/2400 m (2620 yd) of ColourMart Super Geelong 1/14NM Lace wt. or similar yarn holding two strands together.
The model shawl used 146 g, so depending on your gauge, even 150 g could be enough.

Gauge:
30 sts and 64 rows per 10 cm in unblocked garter stitch, but gauge is not crucial. Row gauge is more important than stitch gauge.

Finished size:
The model shawl is approximately 52 cm (20.5 in) deep, measured without the picot edge, and 220 cm (87 in) wide.

Needles:
2.5 mm (US 1.5) or the size you need to get a soft fabric which you like and which drapes well. I recommend a circular needle at least 100 cm (40 in) long.

Other supplies:
Two stitch markers.
