CURLY WURLY SOCKS :: .pdf knitting pattern

These highly textured, rib & lace socks are worked with a central panel of lace which stacks up in long columns. Later, a honeycomb-like texture is achieved with an Eye of Partridge Heel. The real Curly Wurly bars were always best admired, not chosen – but these socks are sure to be a regular favourite on those warm days with cool evenings, when a handknitted sock is the right thing to reach for.

These socks feature:

• Twisted rib cuff
• Lace pattern with twisted rib
• Knitted cuff-downwards
• Eye of Partridge heel flap
• Patterned toe

Yarn: 4-ply (fingering) weight sock yarn
Gauge: 33 stitches & 43 rows = 10cm/4" in stocking stitch in the round
2.5mm needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Size: this pattern is written for 4 adult sizes and for 2 lengths: shorter trainer socks, and longer ankle socks. The ribbed stitch pattern and produces a stretchy fabric which will fit closely to the foot.
