A printable worksheet for anyone deciding where in Valencia they could actually live.

Most people choose a Valencia neighbourhood from photographs. Then they sign a year's lease and discover the things photographs never show: the noise at 2am, the walk to the metro in August, the supermarket that closes exactly when they need it.

This is the worksheet I wish I'd carried on my first scouting trip.

Eight neighbourhoods. Eleven things to judge in each one. It doesn't tell you where to live — it tells you what to notice, and it makes you notice the same eleven things everywhere, so you're comparing like with like instead of comparing your best afternoon in one place against your worst morning in another.

Inside:

· The eleven-point scoring sheet, with what to actually do for each one

· Pages for all eight neighbourhoods, with space for a morning visit and an after-dark visit

· Three questions the score won't answer

Seven pages, A4, designed to be printed and carried.

I'm Antoanetta. I spent twenty years designing fine jewellery in Los Angeles before moving to Valencia, where I now live. I judge things for a living — this is how I'd judge a neighbourhood.
